Hi, Brink. Thanks very much. I successfully created a Windows 7 64-bit UEFI bootable flash drive, and I'll try it in a few days. This is yet another great source of info, just as SevenForums is. I love it here.

    D) Rename the bootmgfw.egi file on your desktop to bootx64.efi.

    E) Copy/Move the renamed bootx64.efi file into the efi/boot folder (step 11A) on the USB.
For my iso, I was unable to open '/sources/install.wim', but I found bootmgfw.efi at '/sources/boot.wim'.

Hello Enkouyami, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Were you using the 7-Zip program to open '/sources/install.wim'?

    What happened when you tried?

It said "Can't open install.wim as archive"

    *Edit*
If I have to use install.wim instead of boot.wim, can someone please upload their bootmgfw.efi file?

Sorry, but posting the file is not allowed as it will violate Microsoft's distribution of copyrighted material policy.

Are you able to use "Extract Files" to extract the install.wim to a new folder on your desktop instead at step 11B, then proceed from there to get the bootmgfw.egi file?

It'll take a while to finish extracting though.

I'm really pissed off. I took over 2 houres just to figure something out. I've done EVERYTHING step by step in order to boot through a UEFI USB to install Windows 8 but it doesn't work at all. I started by creating correctly the UEFI USB in the dos prompt on a different computer using Win 7 64bit then copyed all files from the Win 8 DVD to my USB. Since it's to install it as a 64bit, I did the last step that required to put the folder 1 step above and open the Install.wim for 1 file.. then I plug in my usb key, press F11 and see my Corsair USB as standard but also as in UEFI. In standard it works but won't install on a GPT partition. All this massive trouble is just to install Win 8 on GPT for my Samsung 840 250Gb SSD so I choose UEFI USB in the F11 boot menu but then...

It just shows the same crap as if I would boot directly into the UEFI Rom and it stays there. It DOESN'T load the Win8 that is on the USB, wtf?! Do I need to input any command in the UEFI prompt so it can launch the damn setup.exe ??

    Great tutorial Shawn!

I'll give it a try soon, for the sake of the only UEFI machine I got here.
