    Windows 10 x64

I just did step 10 on Win8 Core x64 and it worked right from the start: HP laptop UEFI is able to see the usb (also containing Win8 Core x64 files) and boot with it.

When it showed the HP logo at boot , I thought I'll see the desktop but then the installer setup screen showed up and usb was blinking.

Similar problem as wikedeye in #152 but different cause

Installing Win7 64b from DVD moved to the USB flash, I had the same problem as wikedeye in post number 152 where he got the "Windows Boot Manager" screen that lists the issue as:

    "File: \efi\microsoft\boot\bcd
    status: 0xc000000f
info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."

The only difference being the last hex digit being "f" in mine instead of "0xc000000d" in his case.

I disabled the "Secure Boot" by selecting the only other option "Other OS". I did this over a week ago when I began playing with this new build and I have verified the setting numerous times so I don't think that's related to my issue. I tried this on 2 different USB 8GB drives several times before I figured out my repeated mistake.

Turns out that in step 11-a instead of "COPY" the "\Boot\" folder I "dragged" (Move) the folder. Not once but several times! Duh...

Hope this helps some one else.

BTW, does anyone know how to do a Win 7 64b GPT UEFI install with only 1 partition instead of the 3? This single partition install IS doable when it's not installing on a GPT drive.

I ask because I can't get Terabyte Image from the boot CD (Win7 not running) to do a backup the drive and validate byte-for-bye when I put these in a RAID 1 mirror set under Intels X79 chips on an Asus Rampage IV Ext. mobo. The 1st 2 system partitions seem to be the issue as I can backup the 3rd partition no problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello AGI, and welcome to Eight Forums.

UEFi would require the 3 partitions.

If you like, you could install Windows 8 without UEFI in "legacy" mode for 1 partition or 2 with "350 MB System Partition".

Clean Install with Windows 8 Upgrade

    or

    Clean Install - Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

thanks theog, think is to install win with UEFI you have to boot from USB, flash drive have to be formatted FAT32, after you do that you can't write file bigger than 4GB in to it, my install.wim file size is around 6.6GB. so I try a lot thinks (split, unarhive file....) to install this win8 and I did, but I'm not sure how.

There are no Genuine Microsoft Windows 8 x64 DVD's or ISO's bigger than 4gb.
