Checked that and all OK - still not working.

Does it matter that the account without the password is not an Admin account?

Also, below is that task that is automatically created in Scheduled Tasks - note the request to run with highest privileges is checked (the user Gary Dexter is my admin account with the PW switched ON)

UPDATE - when I view the Scheduled Task library in the non-admin, non-PW protected users account, the task is not listed in there, only on mine, and within my Tasks, the last successful run time was for MY user account log off

No, it wouldn't matter if the account is standard or administrator.

Personally, I would recommend to create a password for the account.

When using OPTION ONE while signed in an administrator account, are you clicking on the Enable user list option?

Yup I am, and I have tried disabling it and re-enabling it as well

When locking the screen, win+L or from metro profile clickymajinga or from coming back from either energy save mode or hibernation with accordingly set password required, this solution does not trigger the all user login page. i'm yet to find out if this is even possible :/

edited for post clean up and adding some thoughts and observations.

Anyone knows if there is a way to do that ? I tried all options in this topic, but none can do that ... After i lock the computer i always have to hit the arrow button to go to the all users login screen ...

Damn, why Microsoft thinks that after sleep ou lock, the user that will use the computer will always be the same before ? The default option after the lock or sleep should be the all users login page ... Sometimes i think that Windows 8 (and now Windows 8.1) actually is a beta , and the real stable version will be Windows 9...

Hello Veronezzi, and welcome to Eight Forums.

That's correct. This tutorial does not apply to when you "lock" the computer. It's only for when users sign out, shut down, or restart instead.

When a user that is signed in to Windows locks the PC, it's a natural assumption that they will be the same one to unlock the PC to sign back in to their account next. That's why it shows that user on the sign in screen by default.

It's been the same way in all previous Windows as well, so this is nothing new.

Sorry that this isn't what you wanted to hear though.

Can anyone confirm that this still works?

After my posts above about it not working, and looking on the WinAero site, there are reports of the tool no longer working.

    Hello Gary,

Yes, it still works. I just tested it again and can confirm it. Be aware that this is only for the sign in screen after a restart or shut down.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Brink,

Just tested this on a new laptop with Windows 8 Pro, all updates etc installed and it does not work.

Hmm, ok. While signed in as an administrator, double check the items below to see if they may help.

Make sure that you do not have Windows set to sign in to an user account automatically at startup by checking the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box.
    Try OPTION ONE again.

No accounts are set to auto sign in.

It is not working on the account that doesnt have the password enabled.

When this account is the last account to restart or shutdown the laptop, upon reboot it will sign straight into that account.

Is it because the account doesn't have a password attached to it, that something is overriding the tool?
