    would appreciate if you can dig out a CLSID for "Advanced Security" command.

    I am trying to create a context menu, right click on a file or folder so it would display the Advanced Security Settings for that file/folder

    as if I am doing it a long way by
    - right click on File/Folder->Properties->Security->Advanced
    - or: Click on File/Folder then click Share on the menu of Windows Explorer, then click Advanced Security.

    That would be a nice option to have. I'll look into it and post back if I can find an option for that.

    I hope you guys know what to do next

    Great..

    It'd be nice if the user credentials of EightForums could be used seamlessly on (or between) TenForums

    It would be nice, but since they are separate sites, they require separate registration.

    Has anyone else found that the following item has stopped working in Windows 8.1?

    Programs Folder and Fast Items
    {865e5e76-ad83-4dca-a109-50dc2113ce9a}

    I've had a shortcut to it in my Explorer Favorites since forever to give me access to All Programs, but now when I click on it, it does nothing. From the command line, I've tried the "shell:::" syntax from the first page of this thread, and it doesn't open anything. The "/e,::" syntax opens my Documents folder.

    Anyone? All you have to do to try it is run the following:

    explorer shell:::{865e5e76-ad83-4dca-a109-50dc2113ce9a}

    I have a Windows 8.1 VM that last ran Windows Update in March 2015, and it works fine on it. So, sometime between then and now it broke on my main machine, which is up to date.

    I noticed a while ago that the "Programs Folder" had been removed from Windows. It was never a real folder anyway, just an internally-generated folder-like display in File Explorer. In fact, it was actually the old-style Desktop Start Menu in a "folder" form. Its regular CLSID {7BE9D83C-A729-4D97-B5A7-1B7313C39E0A} no longer works either -- as a folder.

    But those keys are still in the Registry, and so it might be possible to turn the Programs Folder on again by editing the keys. I never mess with the Registry myself unless I know exactly what to type there. It's the most dangerous thing you can do with Windows!

    At any rate, the Programs Folder can still be made to appear as a cascading toolbar on the Taskbar. If you want to take the trouble (you only have to do it once) you can use the procedure I came up with some time ago to make a complete toolbar of your entire system. One of the many sub-toolbars that appear in it (the one called "Start") is the Programs Folder in toolbar form, and therefore is also the equivalent of the old Start Menu. I have that on my taskbar, and it still works.

    My instructions for creating the complete-system toolbar are at
