You literally do need to right click to do more.

I just found this out, as Windows 8 is a mine of new discoveries. I noticed in the Windows Store and here that people are complaining about not being able to mass delete emails in the Mail app. I found it out: you have to right click on them or ctrl click them. Yes, you said it, I feel kind of like a derp.

Surely you must be used to right clicking by now! its been with us since win 95, If in doubt right click

Tried selecting multiple e-mails with touch. Long press to "right click" did trigger the square shaped pointer that indicates a right click, but did not select multiple e-mails. Right click on the track pad did. In other apps, flicking from the top of the screen will bring up the same type of content that right clicking does, but it didn't work in mail.

I just accidently figured out how to select multiple e-mails using touch only. If you drag the e-mail you want to select to the right (or left, it turns out) you can select as many e-mails as you like, then you can mass delete.
This was totally unintuitive, I stumbled upon it trying to switch metro apps by flicking from the left outside edge of the screen

Everything is unintuitive when its new to some extent. I bet now you've found that you'll use it without thinking soon. Look at the people who used to hold a mouse up to the screen 'cos they didn't know how to use it!

I agree with you. Once you learn it, it's like riding a bicycle. I call it unintuitive though because the user is already accustomed to "doing more" in metro by tapping a tile and dragging down, or tapping the top of the screen and dragging down in IO10Metro to access tabs. So it just feels weird to tap and drag to the side -- it feels like it should make you go forward or back the way touch users do in IEMetro. In fact, I only stumbled on it because I was drying to drag open a metro app from the left side of the screen. But now that I've found it it's easy as pie.

Actually, I recorded a little touch tutorial for metro mail yesterday to help out any other touch users out there. I need to do some editing and then I'll post it.

You can say Windows 8 does that, but we're going to be living in a metro world; one in which content comes first and UI chrome isn't present all the time. One must right click to do more.

I'd not agree Win 8 was unintuitive in such a blanket way. Elements of it such as Metro are new to us and require effort to learn, but if you are a desktop user, Metro makes very, very little difference.
