Solved Wordpad reverts to Notepad after saving. Why?

I did a factory reset a couple of months ago, most things turned out ok with the exception of this odd deal when saving something in 'Wordpad'. After saving text typed in Wordpad as .rtf extension in 'This PC'>Documents folder. I then open the file & it opens in Notepad & is all jumbled up. Does anybody have an idea as the why this is? Thanks for any replies.

Sounds like the default app for .rtf files has somehow been reset to Notepad. Before opening an .rtf file, right-click it and select "Open with...". On the next dialog, select the Wordpad app and also put a check in the checkbox that says "Always open this type of file with this app". That will set the default app for .rtf files back to Wordpad.
