Woke Up and Found Win10 Upgrade already Download

I was looking at the files on my x86 laptop this morning and noticed Windows-BT downloaded at 5.30AM

snagged the esd from sources folder and created an ISO
also created an ISO from the Windows-bt folder

it is version 10240
Capture.PNG

If you want to make an ISO image of the actual Upgrade for your PC

Download and extract the correct Oscdimg .zip and copy the contents (files) into the Windows\System32 folder

And then run this from command prompt (admin)

Code:
Oscdimg -bootdata:2#p0,e,bEtfsboot.com#pEF,e,bEfisys.bin -h -m -o -u1 -udfver102 "C:\$Windows.~BT" C:\PC_Upgrade.iso

You will find the PC_Upgrade.iso on C:\

I want to first know if it is going to go smoothly with no issues on upgrade anyway, than to worry about clean install. I do have a Windows 8.1 Disc, so not much worry.

You're welcome. Sorry, I thought you did not know about this since you said that you were worrying about a clean install after and that there is no way yet.

It's o.k., we would all like to do a clean install gets rid of all excess clutter of upgrade. Point being for now have to buy Windows 10 disc. Remember this with Windows 8 to 8.1 able to finally do clean install afterwards. I postponed again and had to uninstall my AV first make sure i am set, but now not getting the prompt countdown i had before yet.Although set for 6pm.

For some reason, my Windows 10 notification icon disappeared from my taskbar. I still have the Windows BT folder but it's not increasing in size or changing. Weird...

But be aware of the clean restrictions pointed out before. Upgrade THEN clean install with current 8.1 key -

Windows 10 allows you to easily go back to 8.1 by backing your install and settings in a .old folder -
What is the Windows.old Folder and How Do You Delete It?

It’s easy to downgrade from WIndows 10 to Windows 7 or 8.1. After installing Windows 10, you can open the Settings app, tap Update & security, and tap Recovery. You’ll see a “Get Started” button under “Go back to Windows 7″ or “Go back to Windows 8.1″, depending on which version of Windows you had installed before you upgraded.
Click this button and Windows will restore your old Windows operating system, using the Windows.old folder as the source.

i just want to upgrade at this time , not a clean install.

if i choose option , "upgrade now" i'm getting, that i can't use all options at upgrade , cause installation files want to install in my language and not in english, which is btw my default language.

if i choose to download iso file and run setup on DVD under win 8.1 it writes me, that i need to insert 64bit dvd, which i already choose when asking which os i want 32bit or 64bit. (strange).
i'm running win 8.1 home 64bit.

You must burn that ISO to a DVD. Otherwise you could choose the option in the Media Creation Tool to make a USB disk if you have a USB of at least 4 GB. Does upgrading work then?

Just mount the ISO, then run setup.exe, that's all I did.

Worked fine.

It's an upgrade over a Win 10 beta build upgrade (10162-on-8.1 Pro).

And no, I have no intention of doing a clean install at this stage, it takes at least two full days to rebuild my setup from scratch, then more time to tweak and customise. I have better things to do with my time.

Yes, you should be able to. And yes, an upgrade install will let you keep (just about) everything.
