Woke Up and Found Win10 Upgrade already Download

I was looking at the files on my x86 laptop this morning and noticed Windows-BT downloaded at 5.30AM

snagged the esd from sources folder and created an ISO
also created an ISO from the Windows-bt folder

it is version 10240

If you want to make an ISO image of the actual Upgrade for your PC

Download and extract the correct Oscdimg .zip and copy the contents (files) into the Windows\System32 folder

And then run this from command prompt (admin)

Code:
Oscdimg -bootdata:2#p0,e,bEtfsboot.com#pEF,e,bEfisys.bin -h -m -o -u1 -udfver102 "C:\$Windows.~BT" C:\PC_Upgrade.iso

You will find the PC_Upgrade.iso on C:\

Up date looked in update history and windows 10 failed to install at 08.11 am this morning waiting to see if they try again also lots of old updates trying to install some from 2012
Also tried to get why it failed putting in the error number and it came up empty just referred me to a testers site like you lads have been doing
So come on Microsoft what is going on

Looked at the Windows update history and there were 16 failed attempts on my Windows 8.1 64 bit pro and 11 failed attempts on my laptop running Windows 8.1 64 bit home!

Ok guys , I got my update and windows 10 is activated :) This is exciting as I am seeing it for the first time :)
I did not go the classic way! I downloaded the iso with the MediaCreationToolx64 and updated from the usb

I did a good 1 hour plus upgrade from Windows 7 Home P 64 bit and went smoothly, but my old dv9720us Laptop has driver issues with video card in system says Windows 10 will not be compatible. Windows 10 Home for the install went fine. At they end in system had to activate Windows, which is giving me issues will not activate.

hey !

Just downloaded windows 10 iso file and burned it to DVD.
I'm upgrading from 8.1 Home to Win10 Home 64bit and also i have another machine with Win 8.1 Pro, which i'll upgrade one day in the future.

My question is, where can I find product key for Win 10 now, i just can't find it anywhere.
Do i have to wait for an email from microsoft ?
Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Best

I'm not getting this... I read on this forum that it's recommended to wait until you get a notification on your PC that your Windows 10 has been downloaded and ready for upgrade while at the same time, Microsoft has officially released a Windows 10 Media Creation tool to download Windows 10 and upgrade whenever possible?

Which one is the correct statement?

Yea, just read at ms site :

"! Where is my upgrade? It's coming"
"if you reserved your free upgrade, it's on the way..... watch for notification in the coming weeks"

Did you get a notification? If not, are you able to upgrade with that downloaded ISO of Windows 10 right now? Where did you get that ISO from?

Also, regarding your question about the Windows 10 key, I read this on Microsoft's website about clean installs:

"Note

If you upgraded to Windows 10 on this PC by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 on this PC in the past, you won't have a Windows 10 product key, and you can skip the product key page by selecting the Skip button. Your PC will activate online automatically so long as the same edition of Windows 10 was successfully activated on this PC by using the free Windows 10 upgrade offer. "

i download iso thru media creation tool.
oh, so it says , you can skip product key, i didn't try that.

Won't work if trying to do a clean install, only work if upgrading an existing Windows 7, 8.1 PC, using ISO,
many asking on Ten Forums.

Remember that you have to do the free upgrade first from Windows 8.1 before doing a clean install otherwise your Windows 10 won't get activated.

I think the thing here is that you'd have to upgrade first to Windows 10 and after THAT you'll be able to do a clean install by skipping the Windows 10 key prompt. It's because the free upgrade will get your version of Windows 10 activated on your machine and this info will be stored when you want to do a clean install, thus making entering a Windows 10 key obsolete.

I'm still surprised how Microsoft is saying we should wait for the notification while it's offering the ISO to upgrade directly.

Were the files downloaded to your PC ? Asking why download ISO unless just want a copy for now or later, should be able to get anytime. Figure it's easier with ISO.

I am able to download the ISO at the moment. But what's weird is that I have the option to upgrade immediately from Windows 8.1. While at the same time, Microsoft and tenforums.com are saying that I should wait to get an alert to upgrade. If I should wait, then why is Microsoft offering me an ISO and the ability to upgrade immediately?

I could of done mine yesterday, i had go ahead but felt might not be activated till today and needed more info first before i did.
Meaning files on PC also and downloading the ISO too ?

Oh, we all know, need to upgrade first, no clean install first, not sure how and when that part will work.

I only have an ISO that I have downloaded manually, I don't have the downloaded folder yet which is supposed to be done by the reservation thing, if that's what you meant. You got your ISO yesterday? So it's not the final release of Windows 10 yet?

i just want to upgrade at this time , not a clean install.

if i choose option , "upgrade now" i'm getting, that i can't use all options at upgrade , cause installation files want to install in my language and not in english, which is btw my default language.

if i choose to download iso file and run setup on DVD under win 8.1 it writes me, that i need to insert 64bit dvd, which i already choose when asking which os i want 32bit or 64bit. (strange).
i'm running win 8.1 home 64bit.

You must burn that ISO to a DVD. Otherwise you could choose the option in the Media Creation Tool to make a USB disk if you have a USB of at least 4 GB. Does upgrading work then?

O.k. i understand, your files did not download, but your getting the ISO. No, i received files yesterday as was an early start done by MS to ease the flow of many will be getting it, so started yesterday. I made an ISO from the files that were automatically downloaded in Windows BT folder

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I don't have the files in a Windows BT folder but I have downloaded the ISO. And it says I'm able to upgrade now with the Media Creation Tool. Why should I then wait for my PC to download the files to the Windows BT folder and alert me?
