How to Upgrade to Windows 10




I was looking at the files on my x86 laptop this morning and noticed Windows-BT downloaded at 5.30AM

snagged the esd from sources folder and created an ISO
also created an ISO from the Windows-bt folder

it is version 10240

If you want to make an ISO image of the actual Upgrade for your PC

Download and extract the correct Oscdimg .zip and copy the contents (files) into the Windows\System32 folder

And then run this from command prompt (admin)

Code: 
Oscdimg -bootdata:2#p0,e,bEtfsboot.com#pEF,e,bEfisys.bin -h -m -o -u1 -udfver102 "C:\$Windows.~BT" C:\PC_Upgrade.iso

You will find the PC_Upgrade.iso on C:\

Need to tell people to unblock it in properties;) I just got home from work and as usual forced an update as I leave my PC's off. I then saw your post, Jimmy it worked for me after I copied the "Contents" like you said, and not the Folder like I did the first time. Thank you thank you thank you!

Hello guys I need your help!
Today when I turned on my laptop I got a message that important updates are available and I should install them.
But when I went to windows update there was nothing! I looked at my "windows update history" and I see :
Upgrade to windows 10 Pro failed! (listed as important update)
I restarted my pc and another upgrade to windows pro failed message appeared.

I used the command cliff s posted:

and it made an iso on my hard disk without giving me what version of windows 10 it is!

btw last night I registered for windows insider program. Is this why I got this update?
am I getting a insider version instead of the final build that should go to normal users?
is there a way to check the iso and find out what version it is?

Here is what I found in SetupPlatform.ini file located in Drivers/DU directory of the iso
ImageInfo=Client|Professional|10.0.10240.16384.0|9|en-US

Ah AND MOST IMPORTANT:
Should I install now from the iso or wait....?

I have Windows update to down load and install.
I had the same error message at 11:20 am UK BST 28/07/2015.

That wasn't me it was KYHI
 
My PC Upgrade ISO.zip -> download, extract, run cmd as admin
If the needed MS files are not in windows\system32 the program will copy them there and then proceed to create Upgrade ISO

-----------------
ESD-WIM-ISO.zip -> download, extract, copy INSTALL.ESD from > $Windows-BT \ sources <folder
to ESD-WIM-ISO folder and run cmd as admin > select option 6 to get a standard setup ISO

It is the Upgrade Version for your PC - thus the name PC-Upgrade
the new my pc upgrade .zip allows you to Name the PC the upgrade is for..

I did the other first thing this morning and have been running between 3 forums

I have had one Upgrade ISO fail do to a long file name
 
I just received message to upgrade now, but looking first read what KYHI wrote, thanks for details KYHI !

Seems i either have to upgrade now or reschedule for next 3 days, no other choices, box won't leave for now, any other suggestions here ?
I thought had to upgrade first to do a clean install after. Not comprehending instructions here well.

Pretty much means it downloaded already doesn't it? Just waiting to say when to start the upgrade. Don't forget to image/backup first. :)

I have all backed up and a Windows 8.1 Pro disc. thanks for thought Popeye, just stuck, if i reboot i have Windows 10, can only reschedule it now.

Thinking that, just thought if i needed to make the ISO as your way is only way for now or can i make it later, after the upgrade as MS says may be possible ?
