Solved WINRAR and UAC

Hi guys,

I get errors when I try to extract .zip files using WinRAR so I tried the right click Run as Administrator and it worked fine. Unfortunately when I use WinRAR context menus the Run as Administrator option is not possible. So I went into Properties>Compatibility>Settings and checked Always run this program as Administrator. It's working fine now but has my solution compromised UAC's ability to protect me?
Thanks.

I don't know about the UAC settings but you might want to use---

7-Zip

It works good. :)

I have 7-zip installed on all the other PC's in my house. I asked about WinRAR as I have a paid license. I think I performed the correct action.

I have no idea why you would need to run WinRAR as administrator. I'd look for the reason for that instead of a workaround.

I have no idea either. Having searched the forums it looks like WinRAR needs admin rights. Anyway, I shall mark this thread as solved.
