Solved Windows Update wont download... SFC finds corrupt cant fix

Ill try it! Do you think Glary Utilities is a good one? It has a Registry cleaner...but I haven't used that yet. So you use Defender for Virus protection?

Over an Hour and still no %...I have a decent system, 1TB HD, 22GB RAM 2.7 MHZ 8 Intel processors...was fast for awhile...slowed down tho.

I was talking to my sister in La.

Shut it down & try it again.

I have no experience with Glary.

CCleaner has a registry cleaner too.

David, restart and do it again? Seems like it's taking awhile but want to make sure I should restart and try again.

If it doesn't do anything in another hour, I would close it out & retry it.

I closed CMD out, Restarted, and re-ran DISM Restore Health...2 times until VERY late. I tried to run SFC and it wouldnt let me as it said there was another program scanning or running and to try SFC later. Rebooted again, ran Defender update and it would only go halfway. Ran a Virus Scan anyway...nothing came up. Deleted Norton and just used Defender. Before bed, I ran DISM again and wanted to let it just run instead of staring at a black screen, this morning I woke up to the same screen...no % just appears that it was doing something...a blinking cursor.

Any Ideas?

PS- I wonder how this Brand new laptop would look after being thrown outside in our cold -20F Minnesota days. Frustrated beyond words...

Followed that...it wasnt enabled. I will restart and run DISM RestoreHealth again!

No, you won't lose anything.

I just now ran dism after changing my group policy setting.
Dism ran quicker than before.

I don't know.

You & the other person are the only 2 to have a problem with the dism command I ever tried to help.

Maybe Brink or somebody else will pitch in & offer help.

I shut it down, again as it wasnt progressing. I tried to run SFC as admin (Not in Safe Mode) and this is what I get (See below). Do I need to run SFC in SafeMode? I dont know what other "Repair Operation or service" is running, preventing SFC, or how to stop it. It seems that until I can stop whatever is running and preventing the SFC /SCANNOW it will only allow it in safe mode. Does that all make sense?

-Can I revert back from 8.1 to 8 and would that help?
-I cannot lose MS Office and my email as i have NO clue how to set that back up.
-If i can revert back and you think it would solve the problems, where and how do I do that?

I hate this...frustrating and Microsoft wont help me unless I pay...posted in their forum, nothing.

If you revert you will lose everything you have on 8.1.

Even if you refresh you might lose a few things.
I did.

Refresh & restore:

Charms bar>Settings>Change pc settings>Recovery
