Solved Windows Update stuck at "Checking for Updates"

When I use Windows 8.1 to look for windows updates, it keeps looking for ages and nothing loads. Please help.

Join the club...I have same problem...I have tried everything and cannot get this stupid update problem to go away.

I have tried to install latest update catalog and update app and still no good results.

If anyone has figured this problem out, PLEASE HELP.

I remember having this issue when Win 8 was initially released but cannot remember how I finally got it to update. I do remember it was not an easy path to resolve.

I just recently had to install this OS on a laptop because Win 10 has nagging problem with dropping wifi connection on this Asus N56V.

I am so happy I no longer have to support Microsoft OS's in the work environment!
