Windows Update says downloading updates but 0% after 1hr.

Windows Update says it's Downloading Updates. It has said that more than 30 minutes ago. And it's still 0 KB total, 0% complete. What's going on?

If you have a slow internet connection and/or you have just done a clean install and there are many updates to download, you'll just have to be patient. For example, I just did a recent clean install of Windows 8.0 and there were 62 updates to download. I'd wait a bit more and see what happens if any of my previous assumption apply.

How many are you trying to download ?

You might want to try downloading 1 or 2 at a time.

I had the same problem on my laptop, went into Action Center and clicked troubleshooting and picked fix problems with windows update, it fixed it after.

I'm having the same issue and have done all the troubleshooting. I even tried downloading 2 of the smallest updates only 583kb and it wont make any progress, my internet is super fast so that isn't the issue.
