Solved Windows Update causing BSOD

I've upgraded from Windows 7 on my media centre PC, the upgrade utility found nothing in particular, I did an install that only kept personal files (the PC only plays TV and AVI's so I don't need to install anything else), I applied for the Windows Mediacenter product key, installed it and now each and everytime I connect it to the web and anything updates it BSOD's constantly until I have to refresh windows. So I've cut it off from any internet access and it seems to be working.

I downloaded your BSOD tool on my laptop and put it on the PC where your setup required a .net update via Windows Update...kinda the problem in the first place. As such I can't use your tool and I don't know how to read Windows 8 mini dumps.

So, I've uploaded the mini dump in it's raw format. I've renamed the dmp to txt so that it would pass through your filters. Sorry, but it's really frustrating so I hope you're ok with it? :(

Can someone have a look and give me some advise?

Thanks,
Adam.

The memory dump blames your video drivers. Please follow these steps to uninstall the current video drivers and then install the DRIVER ONLY: nVidia Video Cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If this doesn't fix things, then try the free diagnostics for video here: Additional Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi,
I replaced the NVidia driver and restarted, it then BSOD. I've attached the mini_dump again. Argh!

It still blames the video driver. Did you do the troubleshooting steps at this link: nVidia Video Cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If you have, then start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics (start with the video tests).

Hi Usasma,
I'm totally confused, it's such a pain. I'm thinking I'll purchase a new graphics card instead, as the graphics is currently integrated. I've looked on Amazon and I've found an Asus GeForce GT 610 Nvidia Graphics Card. If I install this will it fix the problem?

Adam.

That's also a good idea. Purchase it from a place that will let you get your money back if it's not needed.
Good luck!

Fixed with a new graphics card. Was relatively inexpensive and very easy to install. Thanks for pointing out what was wrong with my PC.
