Solved VeraCrypt full disk encryption question

Hi Eight Forum,

I plan to encrypt my whole hard drive with VeraCrypt. VC gives two options: (1) encrypt the Windows system partition only, or (2) encrypt the whole drive.

My preference is option two (encrypt the whole drive), but it is ghosted out in VC.

However Disk Manager indicates I've got five partitions. So my questions is - has VC detected that I have only one Windows system partition divided into 5 that it will encrypt as a whole? Or do I have 5 partitions, of which VC can encrypt only the C Drive?

If anyone has any experience encrypting their disk with VC would love to hear any feedback. Also, I'm running the consumer edition of 8.1 (not enterprise) so BitLocker isn't available.

Many thanks,
NL

Found the answer to this question: VeraCrypt full disk encryption is only compatible with Windows OSs that boot with BIOS. From 8 onward, Windows boots with UEFI.
