How to Change Accent Color and Background Theme in Windows Phone 8 and 8.1

The accent color you choose shows up in various places around your phone, like the Tiles on Start, the App list, the App switcher, the keyboard, the People Hub, and even some third-party apps from the Windows Phone Store. You can also choose between dark (black) and light (white) for your phone's background theme.
This tutorial will show you how to change the accent color and background theme to what you want in Windows Phone 8 and 8.1.

EXAMPLE: Accent Color

OPTION ONE
To Change the Accent Color in Windows Phone 8
1. In the App list, tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)
2. In system settings, tap on theme (Windows Phone 8) or start + theme (Windows Phone 8.1). (see screenshots below)
NOTE: You will notice that it will show the name of the current accent color (ex: cobalt) under theme for quick reference.
3. Under Accent color, tap on the current accent color (ex: cobalt). (see screenshot below)
4. Tap on the color you want as your new accent color. (see screenshot below)
OPTION TWO
To Change the Background Theme in Windows Phone 8
1. In the App list, tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)
2. In system settings, tap on theme (Windows Phone 8) or start + theme (Windows Phone 8.1). (see screenshots below)
3. Under Background, tap on the current Background theme. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: On some phones, the dark background uses less battery power than the light background.
4. Tap on the light (white) or dark (black) background theme you want. (see screenshot below)
