How to Change or Remove Start Screen Background in Windows Phone 8.1

Windows Phone 8.1 introduces a new feature that allows you to be able to choose any image as your Start screen background. If the apps you pinned to Start support transparent tiles, then the background will display through the app's tile.
This tutorial will show you how to remove or change your Start screen background to any image you like in Windows Phone 8.1.

EXAMPLE: Start screen without and with a Background
Here's How:
1. In the App list, tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)
2. In system settings, tap on start + theme. (see screenshot below)
3. Do step 4 or 5 below for what you would like to do.
4. To Remove Start Background
A) Tap on remove, and go to step 6 below. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: Remove will only be available if you currently have a Start background.
5. To Choose Start Background
A) Tap on choose photo. (see screenshot below)
B) Browse to the album (ex: OneDrive) that contains the image you want to use for your Start background, and tap on the image (ex: Alienware image) to select it. (see screenshots below)
C) Align the image within the borders for how you want it to display on your Start screen. When finished, tap on the crop
button at the bottom, and go to step 6 below. (see screenshot below)


You can drag, pinch (zoom out to reduce size), and stretch (zoom in to increase size) the image to align it how you like.

6. When finished, you can return to your Start screen to see the change.
