so window's MRUs (most recent used) contain a bunch of stuff and normally I am okay with cleaning it but there is this one particular setting I need not cleaned by ccleaner. problem is, ccleaner shows no cleaning MRU section but infact it does clean it (probably not via file deletion instead reset the file?, maybe thats why its not showing files being deleted).

to reproduce, open chrome/firefox, upload a picture onto forum to bring up the "browse file" window, which can be rezied. resize it. run ccleaner with MRU checkbox ticked and it'll reset the resized window. untick it will solve the problem. in ccleaner it does not give the link where the stored MRUs. so I wish to know the file path of MRUs and put them into ram disk and it'll load that setting each time I startsup.

what is the path to the MRU?

I believe the location and size are stored in the registry Shell\Bags

I don't have Windows 8, but in 7 it was

HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags

In CCleaner, do you have this checked?

thanks for finding this, the nir soft looks incredibly useful is probably just what I need. my ccleaner looks different from yours, its probably because mine is a very very old version. all I know was (same as yours) I have to uncheck "other explorer MRUs" under window explorer section, otherwise browser window (upload window etc) will not save its setting.

now that you found the chart it make sense and my suspicion was correct. NTUSER and UsrClass couldn't be deleted even with admin because its in constant use, so at best ccleaner is able to change setting in those file or restore it to some sort of default state. means in ccleaner says nothing being deleted but my settings are reset regardless.
