[QUOTE="Syncopator, post: 508955, member: 59939"] I'm not quite sure what you are asking. The software has initially to be installed before the hardware is connected. On first connection, the software searches for the correct driver. When I encountered the problem and subsequently received the updated driver, I looked in the Hantek folder in C/Pogram files (x86) and saw a Driver folder. No other folder had the word "driver" in its name. I have just put the software disk in the optical drive to check what's there. Surprisingly I see one folder named Driver and another folder named Win8Driver. They both must have been there all the time, and the Win8 one was not recognised . A little later this evening I will start again and see what happens. Ah, yes. I have used System Care in the past on my XP machines. I thought it good initially, but stopped using for reasons which I forget now. But I have read elsewhere of problems with it. When I have had to reinstall IObit's uninstaller I've made sure that I uncheck the difficult to read offer to install System Care too. Do you know of any concerns about the Uninstaller itself? Thank you for your help. I'm not knowledgeable about, or comfortable with, command line syntax but I shall copy the commands you gave so that I can use them again if I experience anything similar.
