How to Create a "Windows Defender" Shortcut in Windows 8

information   Information
This will show you how to create or download a Windows Defender shortcut in Windows 8. Windows 8 comes with a new version of Windows Defender which is the re-branded Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

This is a newer version of Microsoft Security Essentials with the name of Windows Defender now, which has been enhanced with anti-spyware capabilities along with it's existing anti-virus protection. Windows Defender does not have a icon in the notification area, but it does run in the background by default and will give you a notification if it detects anything.

You will not be able to install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) in Windows 8 since Windows Defender is the new MSE.
