This has been very useful. I was wondering whether you know of a way of adding it to the :winkey: + x menu which can also be accessed by right clicking :winkey: in Windows 8.1?

I think this would be a very convenient additional menu to have the open up/update Windows Defender options.

Thanks

Philip

Hello Philiip,

I'm not sure that it's possible to add cascading menus to the :winkey: + X menu, but you could use the method in the tutorial below to edit it to add what you like to it.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5607-power-user-tasks-menu-win-x-edit-windows-8-a.html

If you edit the .reg file from step 1, the "command" paths for each item will be listed.

For example, to open Windows Defender: "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe"

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn
