Windows Blue - small look at leaked build 9364

Leaked Windows Blue build 9364 reveals multiple Live Tile sizes, same-width side-by-side apps

Notable adjustments include larger and smaller Live Tiles, enabling a bit more Start screen customization, along with an updated side-by-side app view, which boosts multitasking efficiency by displaying two applications with matching width. Other additions include a Play option under the Devices panel, a screenshot button on the Share sidebar, and Internet Explorer 11, which comes packaged with the new OS.

also saw even better skydrive integration. still a work in progress as they use a number of placeholders.

Interesting article. True or false? As much as I don't mind change and learning new features of new Windows OS's, I think it will be a few years before many of us will go beyond 8. If that is true.

Hi there
What's wrong with people -- if you don't LIKE W8 stay with W7. Who now these days insists that say Sony still provide drivers for Minidiscs - even though at the time these were EXCELLENT high quality recording devices.

The planet has moved on -- if you still need an old Dinosaur Desktop --and apparently a load of people still want it -- what on EARTH is wrong with staying primarily with an successful and popular OS designed for that purpose (W7) --Ms has said that support will continue to around 2020 !! so what's the problem guys --if you don't like the new OS don't use it --your previous OS isn't going away any time soon.

Cheers

People are fully capable of deciding what they like, and are perfectly within their rights to make decisions about their preferences... and to express those opinions regardless of outbursts like the one above. No one here ought be suppressing other peoples opinions.

Not sure where you are getting him suppressing someone's opinion from, just don't see it. All he said was if you don't like it then use whatever it is you do like.

Yes, it's funny to see that from Stevie S, bless him.

I can spare you the download.

MS have been faffing with the metro stuff. Apps can do half screen now, instead of that weird one third business.

Control panel items have appeared in the metro monstrosity, and windows system image has been shot.

The remaining start menu code has been removed - StartIsBack will no longer work for example.

What is there for the 1.6bn desktop users ?

Not a thing.

Nada

Zip.

Zilch.

Yes, nothing exciting there - unless you think that is all Blue will be.

In which case - it is fascinating - particularly as it is another step to keeping folk in the metro stuff.

The point of that is what do you think?

That's what was missing in Metro. More control and independence from the desktop !

Well, can't all the items that were in the menu be accessed through the file explorer?
Personally I find the file explorer easier to use than the start menu, I run multiple AutoCAD software and computer algebra software, which populates the start menu on windows 7.

With the Modern UI I like the fact that icons are bigger, but there is of course the downside of having to manually arrange them on the start screen, but hey, life is full of compromises and nobody alway gets what they want. :p
