Windows 8 won't recognize my mouse and keyboard

After an update, Windows 8 won't recognize my mouse and keyboard. I can't enter any info or get past my
login screen. How do I get this resolved.

Try this first: unplug computer from AC. If a laptop also remove battery. Let it sit overnight. Plug in and try again in the morning

You didn't tell us anything about this computer - notebook or PC or what type keyboard and mouse. Are they USB? Wireless through one dongle or two?

I would try a different keyboard and see what happens.
