Windows 8 - Windows Live Mail - Group List

Is there a way to create and save a list of frequently emailed contacts as a group, like in Outlook?
That is, multiple email addresses in a single contact group name, so I only have to send email to the group name and all members of the group get the email?

Thanks.

Run Windows Live Mail. Click on the followings:

  1. Contacts on the bottom left
  2. Home tab from the ribbon
  3. Category (group) then type in the text field to name the group.
  4. repeat for each contact you want to be included in the group
  5. Save

just be careful if you are using wlm2012. On Many machines the group contacts (when made as a category ) will not send
there is a bug in 2012 that Microsoft is aware of and still has not figured out how to fix this. If you find this happening, you can install the 2011 version but you need to uninstall 2012 first. Do not despair, all your emails and contacts will still be there but it is best to back it up first just in case

Well, it's December now -- has anyone come up with a fix? I just got thrown from Vista to 8.1 and WLM12, I'm editor of one of our club's newletters, and now I can't send it to the group by email. I'm getting very frustrated! HELP!!!! By the way, I have found my "category" list and it's intact and complete -- it just won't send.

there is no fix as of yet from microsoft, i have been monitoring their forum where i originally posted the problem and they have not come up with a fix for this as of yet
But a way to get around this is to make your group email. And if it does not sent, save it as a draft. Log out of live.com
then re log back in and try to send the email
that is how i get it to work

Thank you both for your very speedy replies -- it's not the news I was hoping for but at least it gives me a couple of things to try.

Just a FYI. The work-around that seems to work for me -- I send a few of the names in the group, usually the club's Executives (If they don't like it they can find a new editor!). in the "To" box and then the rest in the BCC box and it seems to work. Incidentally, it seems you have to open the list so you see all the contact names and not just the category name.
