Windows 8 Start Button

#1
Okay, so I am really new here, and I would like to say hi. My name is Ali, and I live in Virginia. I go to High School, and I plan to be a programmer in either Java or C#. Anyways, my question is, is there any way to get a start button on Windows 8. I hate having to go a folder to access My Computer. If it is a separate download, I don't wanna hear it. Thank you!

Hi Shawn :)

I saw one of your tutorials on how to pin recycle bin to the taskbar. He can use that trick to pin My Computer to the taskbar, as his main concern is accessing my computer. As I'm on my android and accessing the forum though the EF app, it's a pain for me to link that tutorial. If you would, please :D

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "I hate having to go a folder to access My Computer", but you can access My Computer by moving your cursor to the lower left hand corner and when the hidden Start button pops up, right click on it and choose File Explorer, and it comes up on My Computer.

You can always pin Computer to Start or other things like the Documents or Videos libraries, folders, hard or network drives, even Control Panel items to Start. Just right click on hit Pin to Start and a new tile is made for you to arrange.
You'll find that the more you use the Start Screen, the more or less you'll really need or want to use a menu replacement. Give it a go, it doesn't bite too hard. :)

Well, if you really want it, it's a separate download. It's the only way.

You'll find that the more you use the Start Screen, the more or less you'll really need or want to use a menu replacement. Give it a go, it doesn't bite too hard. :)
You might find this is true, or you might not. I haven't fallen for the new Start screen, even though I have used it on various computers and actually do know how to use it. If given a choice, I would pick the start menu over the start screen in all cases.
