Hi there

Proper Music!! OK Louis Amstrong is fine but what about J.S Bach, Beethoven,Haydn or W.A Mozart -- to say nothing of Handel, Palestrina, Victoria, Allegri, Lassus and loads of others.

HI THERE
I like heavy metal too and even "Old time stuff " like Frank Zappa " Hot Rats" and the band he was a long time associated with --"Mothers of Invention". Don't forget old time favourites like "The Moody Blues" too.

Classical music lovers don't always hate other types of music too although I have to admit much of the modern (post 2000) music has about as much emotion in it as a dead doormouse and sounds like a load of road drills trying to penetrate your "Cage" when you are sitting INSIDE it. (Typical Night club music -- that I could definitely pass on).

Cheers

Nothing wrong with classical music. It is "proper music", sure, even though I am totally not a fan. Like, at all.

Metal is not "proper music". Rock and metal are things of another culture and are a completely different universe from the rest, where the mentality of the fans is drastically different not just from those who like pop(ular) music, but many other cultures as well.

To me, jazz is one term for "proper music". Though it is a thing of the very distant past, people still live and breathe jazz like there never was any other kind of music in existence. Jazz is still universal, like opera and classical music, and is generally accepted. Metal and rock are not like that.

I listen to jazz, then go to a metal gig... Next night I might be at an opera, or a blues festival. And yes, even a club. Then I put on my green hat and celebrate St. Patrick's day with nothing but irish folk music...

The whole point is that a fan of specific types of music, like I just mentioned jazz for myself, certainly doesn't care about Lady Gaga or the Bieber girl when I listen to jazz... or blues... or any other kind of music that is NOT gaga and bieber and the like. That's the whole point. The (Xbox) Music app just fails because of it, and this is where Zune WINS, because instead of random ugly mugs displayed in a "mosaic", I have my album art index in a "mosaic".

That's exactly why I deleted the install after no more than half an hour... I just glanced at the changes, encountered problems (and lots of them) and bailed out. The Release Preview is good enough for me until I can buy the RTM.

To me, proper music is Black Sabbath, Los Beatles, Rammstein, INXS, Depeche Mode and Chevelle among others. :D

Bullocks! Every time I think the leaked RTM builds are genuine builds, something comes along and makes me question that. The main thing is the Desktop out of everything. Microsoft posted a screenshot of an RTM branch build of the Desktop with a transparent blue taskbar and white windows and this was dated back in April. Now, the thing is that they have said that the screenshot is just a sample taste of what's to come as the whole audience that is on the edge of their seats will have to wait until October 26th to see the "ENTIRE?" completed Desktop UI. So that makes me think the leaked RTM builds MIGHT be in the RTM branch, but MIGHT be a couple days before final RTM sign off.

But then, there is the fact that the screenshot was posted in April, so theoretically, that would be PLENTY of time to redesign the iconography on the Desktop. That's why I think it's not the final RTM as there is still Aero styled iconography from vista that still remains. You'd think if Microsoft redesigned a huge element of Windows, you'd think they would tie the Desktop along with the redesign into metro standards. Microsoft's also said that they went and removed all gradients, shadows and whatnot from the Desktop UI but there STILL is some in the leaked builds. Windows Photo Viewer is one that still isn't redesigned. There's also no apparent way to make the Desktop have white windows with independent coloring for the taskbar without third party apps to do that. I've done that with my copy and it looks and feels like Windows 8.

I don't know, if the Desktop the final UI design, theoretically it would make sense to keep the iconography the same as to keep some familiarity, but the Start Screen took out about 50 percent of familiarity with Windows, so it would had been better to just go all the way and make things TOTALLY different UI wise than 7.

I DO NOT KNOW!

Hi there
I don't think a keylogger would help too many people in my case if I'm not typing in English !! or even using a non QWERTY keyboard. You can get software that also encrypts and decrypts your key board entries if you really are that worried. !!!

Incidentally I haven't heard people worried about the security implications of typing clear text using a wireless keyboard. A few years ago people were able to steal cars by using a "Grabber" which picked up the signal from someone's remote car key. The technology has changed but it's still possible. !!!!

However you are totally correct in questioning the validity of the Hash sums if you automatically trust the ones from the torrent site where you downloaded the "RTM" from.

In this case the RTM leaked versions "Appear" to be genuine -- but I'd still only install this stuff on a Virtual Machine.

Cheers
jimbo

Eventually the checksums will show up for the Technet/official Microsoft DVD's. If they match what I have I'll keep the DVD's I burned, if they don't I'll chuck them in the bin. At the moment I trust the source for my disks enough to play around with them. As a precaution I won't do any online banking etc.
