OK. WDDM uninstalled and a custom video resolution added to ExtraData.

<ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" value="1366x768x32"/>

It is working fine now in full screen.

Flash is built in to Windows 8 Release Preview, so there is no need for a separate download.
It is? I thought they only added flash support in IE10 Metro.
Honestly, I've been looking like hell now for a "what's new" list, but I can't find anything. Anyway, 12min left downloading!

I installed FF 12 and then went to YouTube and FF said it needed a plug in. Clicked install and it downloaded and installed Flash with no problem. Here is what the Flash Panel shows.

Jim

Chrome comes with its own version of flash so no problem there.

Anyone come across this in VMware player?

Try installing Windows 8 in Virtualbox. VMware may have to release an update to fix issues with the Windows 8 Release Preview.

As I posted earlier RP installs in VBox but there may be issues with the WDDM 3D video driver. There is a workaround if you have problems which works for me.

Thank you.

I managed to find a solution and installed it shortly after my post.

Just need to get my apps working now. I'm not convinced they've actually downloaded from the store, which is understandable given the amount of traffic they may be experiencing.

EDIT:-

Just changed Network adapter from NAT to Bridged, and all the apps have now downloaded and installed.

My apps aren't installing though.
Windows 8 doesn't seem to like being in a virtual machine, lol. I have never had any Windows OS after XP run well in Virtualbox. It's best to run Windows 8 in a dual boot on your computer or find an old pc that meets the requirements for Windows 8 and install it on there.

Downloaded and installed quick and easy.

Disappointed that they removed the pinball game, that was freaking awesome!

Installed Diablo and anther game and they installed and ran perfectly.

Otherwise, I'm STILL trying to get used to a lot of bat UI decisions. Running a full screen desktop app, the charms slider gets in the way a lot. You no longer have to even put the mouse completely in the corner, you can be hovering over say the X close button and it'll activate now. Not good.

Still don't see how a metro app on a 22 in monitor does anyone any good at all (unless it's a wall mounted AIW Information portal). And the Metro version of some of the OS utilities are a little scary, like the metro windows update. You can't install updates unless its set for automatic updates. THEN you can force it to update now and then turn it off again? (Nothing worse than an automatic update in the middle of crunch time or when trying to log off at midnight and get to bed) Metro takes away about 90% of your choices on everything OS related. Of course you can still go to the REAL control panel and all the options are here. But one wonders if that'll last through Windows 9 given the way the Start menu has been permanently excersized.

No matter, I'll be on the desktop screen 99% of the time anyway.

Win 8 RP released: "And nothing of interest was released".

I want some of the drugs management at MS is taking if they think this piece of failware is going anywhere.

Have you actually used the Release Preview or are you going along with what the media says. The media said bad things about Vista and still do and Vista isn't that bad. Windows 8 is actually pretty good if people would stop crying and actually learn it. It has some cool new features and is very fast.
