gah!! why did they have to break flash!?!? I can not get flash to install properly with the new preview, works fine in IE but the one u have to install for firefox wont work :( anyone got a fix for this yet? says activex cannot be registered.

Flash is built in to Windows 8 Release Preview, so there is no need for a separate download.
It is? I thought they only added flash support in IE10 Metro.
Honestly, I've been looking like hell now for a "what's new" list, but I can't find anything. Anyway, 12min left downloading!

I installed FF 12 and then went to YouTube and FF said it needed a plug in. Clicked install and it downloaded and installed Flash with no problem. Here is what the Flash Panel shows.

One computer down, one to go. I have to agree with others this release is faster and more stable.

I downloaded Windows8-ReleasePreview-UpgradeAssistant at 12:30. By 2:15 pm it was installed on my dual boot drive. You have no choice about keeping installed programs. Works great with 2 monitors.

I forgot how to reboot and had to find my Wizmo Stop/Reboot files on the other drive. After getting those icons set up I installed Norton Internet Security because on the Win 8 Preview version installing it after some other programs caused a problem.

Just in case any body here feels the need to install Windows Media Center in the release preview there is a way you can do it. :)

I have it up and running using the link below. It seems to use a separate key in order to gain access to the download of WMC.

Windows Media Center is not preinstalled in Windows 8 Release Preview. If you want to use Windows Media Center, you need to add it by following these steps:

A.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.)

B.Enter add features in the search box, and then tap or click Add features to Windows 8.

C.Tap or click I already have a product key.

D.Enter this product key: MBFBV-W3DP2-2MVKN-PJCQD-KKTF7 and then click Next.

E.Select the checkbox to accept the license terms and then click Add features.

Your PC will restart and Windows Media Center will now be on your PC and the tile will be pinned to the Start screen.

thanks worked great :)

Trying the ISO path, install didn't like the upgrade version. I wanted a clean install anyways. Downloading should be done....hmmmm....about the 4th of July. Everyone must be banging away.

It's up and running! And... I installed Flash Player. Works like a charm. :-S

// EDIT:

And for the record. I love the new look and feel. It's not that much tweaked, but it kinda did it for me! Now even I want the Aero gone!

If it is mentioning ActiveX, then you have the version for IE. Download the version for "other browsers", here if you want. FF does not use ActiveX.

Hi alls!
I trying to install win8x64 from pendrive to clean 64gb samsung 830 ssd in ahci mode. Boot from pendrive ---> 'Windows' subtitle on the screen and don't happen anything. I waited half an hour but nothing. D
id not continue the installation.
All the bios is set ok. I tried several times to download, if you failed to iso, but no.
:((((
????

All over for me now:
Are you really using a machine with 640MB of RAM?

Yes - just to see how low spec things can run on.

I was surprised that it didn't like the processor either, though.

Win 8 CP had no problems - it wasn't fast, but I did not expect it to be. Windows 7, XP, Ubuntu, LinuxMint all run fine too. I'll set up a windows to go installation tomorrow, to run on a 2GB system.

Did you use this tool? It's meant for 7 but it also works on 8.
Microsoft Store Online

P.S.: it will format your pendrive.

Thank You
