Solved Windows 8 Pro with Media Center product key

I got the product key to activate Media Center for 8 Pro. I read in one of the tutorial sections that the product key I got for that will now be the new product key for my OS. If I were to reinstall 8 Pro, would my previous key still work? Would I still be able to use the new Media Center product key to activate that? Can I just use the media center key from the start upon installation and stop using the old key altogether?

The Key I got From Microsoft Did Work Again I Redid Windows 8 Pro After Messing With Ubuntu =D.

I think first you have activate with the original key and activate with WMC key.. otherwise it might not activate directly if you use WMC key.. That is my opinion..

It is best if you preserve both the keys just in case..

Just tried installing 8 with the Media Center key. No dice. So while my OS product key is the Media Center key now, I can't install the OS with it. Good to know. I suppose if the Media Center key worked, people could take advantage and get a free 8 installation. Going to save both keys anyway.

know that when you activate Win8 with a key, then add MC with its own free key, MS sever generates a totally dofferent key from the first two.
Use adavnced token manager to save activation....when you do reinstall win 8 with MC integrated, you can actually just restore ..

Yep, this was the topic I was looking for since I want to wipe the Windows 8 Pro with Media Center and do a fresh clean install for my experiments..

I installed Windows 8 Pro and then added the free Media Center. The activation details now shows the WMC Key as the Windows Key. I was wondering which key to use if I do a clean install again. Notwithstanding that I will be doing an image backup to restore after my experiments, I shall also use the Advanced Tokens Manager just in case.

ATM for the win man, there are many threads all over the net about backu up, I dont see the need to rewrite all bt I will be happy to point anyone to some links if needed. MDL has most of it covered.
