Solved Windows 8 Phone (Wi-Fi problem) Nokia Lumia 1520 with Win8

Hi Brink, I actually did read all your tutorials first regarding Windows 8 phones. I was going to ask why we don't have a separate section for them. I have the Nokia Lumia 1520, but I don't use it as a phone at all, only as a small tablet, and especially the brilliant camera. Do I assume correctly that 'screen times out' means when the 'phablet' is sleeping? In your tutorial why do you classify 'Brink-Router' as a 'Hidden' Wi-Fi network? What actually is a "hidden" Wi-Fi network? I have all 4 boxes ticked off in the 'Advanced' section. In my club I had selected their secure network and correctly inserted the password. Thanks for answering Brink, and I think you do a magnificent job, especially with all your tutorials!
Robin.

Currently there's not enough demand for a separate "Windows Phone" forum, so we tied it in with "Tablet and Touch" for now.

"Hidden" just means that the Wi-Fi network doesn't broadcasts it's SSID name (ex: Brink-Router). This means that the Wi-Fi name will not automatically show up in the available Wi-Fi networks to connect to. It has to be manually added in the advanced settings to be able to connect to it.

The "screen time out" is just when your phone's screen automatically turns off when idle after X amount of time you specified. It's more of a low power standby state than sleep since the phone is still actually on and running.

The Lumia 1520 is able to connect to 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands, so that wouldn't be an issue of their network not being compatible.

Is your phone possibly connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot instead of the club's?

Hi Brink, I got a couple of tips regarding this Wi-Fi problem. 1..Turn off the Wi-Fi connection and then on again. This I did up the club and lo and behold it worked. 2. Was to right click on the network's address and delete it and then do another search and when the network comes up again, select it and try again.

Perfect. Thank you for posting back with your findings. :)
