Windows 8 Partition "SYSTEM" / Disk Management Help

Hi,

I had Windows 8.1 installed for quite some time and wanted to go back to 8 today until the real update rolled out. I had a system image stored with everything I wanted setup correctly. Unfortunately for some reason I couldn't restore form a system image through Windows 8.1. I opened the installer for Windows 8 and did a new install. I tried the system image again and it said something about having a dynamic disk. Through an hour of research I couldn't find any solution so I decided I'll stick with the new installation.

I noticed now when I go to My Computer, there is a new partition called SYSTEM(I) that has 112mb free of 198mb. When I look inside of it, it is empty. When I choose to show hidden files, it is still empty. When I use the disk management to delete it, it cannot be done. Any clues on how I can get this partition not to show, or even better, deleted?

I also wanted to delete the system image as it pissed me off enough already. I deleted everything from the partition and then deleted the volume (now it's unallocated space). When I try to extend drive C - my main drive - the extend option is grayed out. Any other partition is acceptable though. Any way to fix this? Thanks!

As you probably now know, an 8.1 image recovery will not work with a 8 image. If you had a Windows 8 Install or recovery media, it would probably work. Perhaps making a recovery drive from your current Windows 8 install would allow you to re-image the drive.

What you did when you reinstalled, hard to say. It might help if you could attach a picture (snipping tool) of your Disk Management window using the paperclip on the advanced replies.
