Windows 8: No sound card was found.

Brought a computer in for a "cleanup" at Staples, and upon bringing it home it didn't have any sound. I waited two months to bring it back, and after doing so the person at the computer center said there was "nothing they could do."

Ran Dxdiag at the behest of an employee and there's no information under the "Sound" tab.

Opened Device Manager. Three things are showing issues:

1. Microsoft Streaming Tee/Sink-to-Sink Converter

My Windows 8 installations never finds my SoundMax Integrated device on first installation. But Windows Update finds a driver.

That computer is supposed to use the Realtek HD Audio driver. Download & install the Realtek audio driver from the Realtek web site. And connect a pair of high quality & powered stereo desktop speakers at the back of the computer (if it's a desktop computer).
