My mother is using my old laptop from 2012 and recently updated Windows 8. When she did, Windows no longer loaded up, and kept saying "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation." My mother had tried various things, and I tried doing every option in the Windows troubleshooting menu. I don't know what I should do next. I thought about re-installing windows but I don't know how to begin doing that.

Here is the version I got from the command line: Microsoft Windows (Version 6.2.9200)

I'll be more than willing to give more information if needed.

You should create a bootable usb (tutorial here) if you want to re-install Windows. Plug it in and boot from it. Then, just accept everything, select your disk and you should be done.
