Hey all. I just recently purchased a laptop with Windows 8 and wanted to set up a VM of Windows 7 on it. I have never worked with VM's before and I'm ready to get it going. Could anyone provide any help as to how to do it. Thanks!!!

Hi there,

For beginners I recommend VMware Player:
VMware Player: Run Windows 8, Chrome OS on a Virtual PC
It's free.

You can also find it on filehippo for example.
The install process is easy to follow and the VM's work nicely.

There are other visualization products out there but this on is best to get started with.

Good luck

Thanks Hopachi! I will definitely look into it. Another question I had was do I have to purchase a Windows 7 license or is there some demo version that is offered for testing purposes?

You're welcome.

Demo? That I'm not sure.

You can definitely use your old XP (if available) or try the Win8 Entreprise Evaluation
Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation

Cheers
