Windows 8 - Getting Started Video

This is a 27 minute video that shows you some of the basics of Windows 8. It is intended to help those of you who have not yet tried the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Although not a perfect professional job, it may make it easier to get you started with Windows 8 after you watched this video. Full screen view is best.

Note: If you have a problem with the loudness of the sound output of the video, check the "Loudness Equalization" box in your Playback device. It is under the 'Enhancements' tab.

The volume for me is very low, turned my settings up all the way and can hear your voice but not loud enough to understand.

thanks for the video, but yes, your voice is quiet, wolfgang. when the windows sounds happens, they are loud!

Thanks for the video, I'm sure poeples will apreciate, but I just want to point out a mistake you made in the video and in few posts here, the IE you open in the desktop, is not IE9 it's IE10 too.

Not on my system. I have IE9 on the desktop. I think the IE10 notion in 'About ...' is wrong.

It is too bad that there is still this audio problem. I had rerecorded it with another screen capture program that always worked. And it works here and also for some other people. It is a straight forward .wmv from the outset. No idea why some of you still have that problem.. I am sorry. Maybe I should redo it from scratch.

As area 66 mentioned, both versions of IE under Windows 8 CP are version 10. In fact, they have the same build number.

it's not wrong they are suposed to release it for the Windows 7 the one include in Windows 8 as a corrector, internet explorer 9 don't have

I'm gonna watch a little bit now, but yes, the voice is very low. If there are other loud sounds in the video, then all that needs to be done it to apply some compression (dynamic) to the audio with a DAW like Cubase or Sonar. Sony Sound Forge can do this excellent too.

A trial version of n-Track is also available from its website.

There are all different settings for compression. Just test them out quickly until you find one that is good. Then after, normalize the audio to about -13 dB RMS. Again, Sound Forge is excellent for this.

I can hook it up well if interested.

That is interesting. I have never done that before. How exactly does that work. The strange thing is that here, it works perfectly well.

lol ya, it's not a very long process but in the middle of it, the room starting spinning too much for me to continue safely....St. Patrick's Day has proved me to be very much unlike my younger days and it seems that I stepped into lightweight territory. haha

Ya, so I applied 2 types of dynamic compression and then also applied a very heavy noise reduction to remove the background hiss as much as possible. The noise reduction is good because it works by selecting a part when there is no speaking, and then it knows to remove just that hiss and nothing important.

After, I normalized the audio to ~ 12.75 dB RMS average. So, this means loud.

The file can be uploaded to YouTube or played on any software or hardware player, including gaming consoles. 720p in my next post.
