Solved Windows 8 Developer Preview 64bit on Gateway Laptop

Hey everyone! I just downloaded the 64bit version of Windows Developer Preview without the dev tools last night, burned it to a dvd this morning, and installed it next to Windows 7 and Windows XP on my Gateway NV59c laptop.

It works well. It detected all my hardware and it all seems to be working right out of the box. Better than what Windows 7 produced. It even recognizes my card reader after install. In Windows 7 I had to go a download the driver for it.

I only had one BSOD. It was trying to install Avast Internet Security. It installed no problem, save for the dialogue telling me of a compatibility issue. But after restarting Windows, it would keep BSODing at boot. But after three attempts to boot, it went into recovery mode and allowed me to use system restore. So all is well!

But ya, just wanted to let you all know that it works on this laptop perfectly fine in case anyone might be wondering about a Gateway laptop.

Why for? The Developer Preview comes with a version of Defender that works as an antivirus.

Not saying that it's a bad idea. :)
