First I installed CP as a dual boot OS and then after playing with it last night decided to delete the partition and install as my main OS. I ran an upgrade install over Win 7 Ultimate x64 and am extremely happy with the upgrade. Everything went smoothly and the only two things I ended up having to do is to delete MS Security Essentials and when upgrade completed change Windows Mail files. And voila all is well. I have not lost a single application or device.

Unfortunately I made a typo when I entered my live id info and could not figure out how to fix it but have now done so. The secret is going to settings > more pc settings and then change user account info from there.

I think I can safely say I am won over by Windows Eight after my initial dubiousness.

    I dunno
No luck on my end.

Extremely unresponsive when trying to install a driver from the disk and in general.

When trying to connect to the internet I get a BSOD (3 times in a row):

And what's a fish got to do with Windows?

I'm enjoying it. I first installed it on an older laptop and have been getting great performance for everyday tasks, The Metro UI took a couple of hours to adjust to but once I found where everything was it has started to grow on me.

two days with win 8 x64 not satisfied downgrading to win 7

1)since my monitor resolution 1280x720 doesnt support 90% reason for my downgrade!!!
2)start menu absence

i can get used to the start menu with new metro UI but the screen resolution requirement is just too much!!!

i feel microsoft concentrated more on OS for touchscreen laptops and tablets than for a Desktop!!!
but still not all touchscrren laptops and tablets will have higher resolution

1280x720 is a HD resolution if a OS cant support even a HD resolution thats really bad!!!
i dont feel this is a OS for a Desktop!!!

Yes, its turning out to be a disaster on the Desktop. Whenever MS shows demos of Windows 8, they always use tablets not Desktops. Maybe the are confident enough on Windows 7 to hold its ground on the Desktop market for years to come but for a Desktop user like me, this is a huge upset, even the loss of the Start button increased the reason I would be upset about.

The sad thing is that MS will claim that W8 is a winner, because millions of people downloaded it.
It's a pity we can't return it for a refund.

You can. You'll get back just what you paid for it.

I didn't realise that MS had an upload facility for returns.

How are you guys coping with this?? To me 7955 was a better experience. This is a disaster Metro and the desktop are so disconnected its like the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing?? Inside the metro music app you can't select files off another drive? Are you serious? I can't send M$ enough feedback about this thing there are so many flaws in here its unreal.
