Dual Booted on netbook.
It was 50gb partition and win8 took only 7.34gb, isn't it too strange?

Started my download last night at about 10 pm, local Thailand time. It is now 8 pm on second night and it has been downloading all the time except for the many times it stops and I must Resume. My connection is as fast as I can get in my part of the country and is a satellite hook up with the dish pointing to low horizen in the south east and my contracted for 1meg speed is normally running at about 150k.

I tell all this not because I want sympathy but rather so those of you with the lightning speed connects, like the one that says 10 minutes to download can have a better appreciation for what you have.

It is my choice to be living here so the only purpose here is to expose the fact that slow can be slower than what you have and hope that you appreciate your lightning connections.

Started the download last night, was done when I got up this morning.
Had some issues getting it on a USB stick, finally sorted it out, actually installed it on my laptop (triple boot) in the airport waiting for a flight. Activated and got updates in the hotel.

So far it's all good.

Microsoft Security Essentials
wont work in windows 8 CP? compatibility test gives the report as not compatible!!!

I do believe that is because the included updated version of Windows Defender now does what Security Essentials does. The new Windows Defender replaces Microsoft Security Essentials, so if you are doing an upgrade you will be prompted to uninstall it. I got the same message when trying to do an upgrade from Windows 7. The update install failed "for an unknown reason", so I did a clean install. I'm still not liking Windows 8 that much. Is there are mandatory 3 to 5 mouse clicks to do anything rule or something? Microsoft must think you are going to like it so much that you'll never shut it down, else why would they make it such a pain just to turn your PC off? :(

You don't really have enough RAM to run it well in VMPlayer. I see you are already into dual booting so that may be the way to go.

I have the 64-bit version running in VirtualBox and the 32-bit version running in VMWare Player (latest versions of both, complete with latest additions). I personally never mess with dual boot anymore, virtualization lets me have many more options than dual boot.

Things seem to work well although the provided apps are, for the most part, terrible. The solitaire game has to be the worst implementation of that game I've ever used. I uninstalled many of the apps, resized the large tiles and turned off the "live" tile BS.
