Windows 8 Build 7989 leaked

Fresh screenshots from a Milestone 3 copy of Windows 8 leaked to the Internet on Friday.
Read more here

The article is brief, but it shows 2 out of 4 new screenshots of the build 7989, a Milestone 3 copy built in April. BetaArchives members seem to be both trying to get and leak this built, while also discussing whether this is actually real or not. The topic can be found here. I hope the thread title is not misleading, so let me just state that, as far as I know, build 7989 is not an official beta, or any other "officially" released build, for that matter.

I can't get it to install on a dual boot :( It'll "install" but then give me an error saying I need to restart the installation.

PS: I got the torrent at 2.2MB/sec. Not too bad.

I restart the computer, restart the installation, and it eventually gets back to the same thing. I'm trying it via installing 7 again on a second partition and just upgrading. I'll post back and let you know if it worked.

Nope, it didn't work; I got an error saying that I cannot upgrade from a 64-bit OS to a 32-bit OS and I need to obtain the 64-bit disc. Yet, at the same time, it's also saying I cannot upgrade from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS and I need to obtain the 32-bit disc. None of it is making any sense. I'm trying to upgrade from a 64-bit to 64-bit (I tried 32-to-32 and got the same error message). That's what came up when it was checking compatibility options.

First of all - You can't upgrade from Windows 7 to 8 ,or 7955 to 7989 ,You have to make clean installation.
Next ,check the hashes ,'cause it maybe be bad iso.

Here are the original hashes :

CRC32: 374EC90D
MD5: 4480F94C0E11CE58DC9B7330678F07DD
SHA-1: C09CDCEC2540D93EEBE650B521B2F7AE477A300A

Here is proper iso - MDL

I kept getting that message too, in VBox though, haven't had time to play too much with it. I'm gonna try a fresh ISO this weekend.

I figured you couldn't upgrade; but the first 2 times I tried installing clean I got the error message. I'll try the updated ISO next.

EDIT: Started the torrent, and it's not even downloading <.<

EDIT: nevermind, it's downloading. Darn my impatience.

That makes more sense then. :)

And; alas, no banana! It didn't work. :( It was installing and I got a black screen with a shutdown notification; then my computer restarted and gave me a message saying my computer shut down unexpectedly and I needed to restart the installation; or something like that. Anyway, same message I got with the other ISO.

Interesting. Thanks !

:)

The scores of IE9 and IE10 are almost the same:

IE9-10 Fireflies.jpg

IE9-10 setImmediateAPI.jpg

IE9-10 Asteroids.jpg

I've tried to install it using virtualBox cause I only have 32-bit but it's telling me it can't install cause my CPU isn't 64-bit capable...I burned the ISO to a disk and then installed it to VirtualBox. Is it the wrong way??
No x86 versions huh?
Guess I'll have to sit-out this time until I get my x64 capable machine next week.

Nar, you could use the ISO to install it as a virtual machine using VirtualBox. :)

I found that running similar benchmarks in IE 9 and IE Platform Preview 10 on my systems.

I attempted to install it in VMWare, but I keep getting "Error Code 0x0000005" or however amount of zeros is in it.

I installed 6.2.7989.0.amd64fre.winmain.110421-1825.iso . Runs fast but some errors when using Internet Exploder.
But that is why we have to go thru a long beta. I can't wait for Build in September.

I'm guessing that could be your issue. When you blow something up, it normally wont work correctly after that :D
