Windows 8 Build 7989 leaked

Fresh screenshots from a Milestone 3 copy of Windows 8 leaked to the Internet on Friday.
Read more here

The article is brief, but it shows 2 out of 4 new screenshots of the build 7989, a Milestone 3 copy built in April. BetaArchives members seem to be both trying to get and leak this built, while also discussing whether this is actually real or not. The topic can be found here. I hope the thread title is not misleading, so let me just state that, as far as I know, build 7989 is not an official beta, or any other "officially" released build, for that matter.

I activated with a genuine Windows 7 retail key. No telephone call needed.

Not sure what you mean there. Windows 8 takes over as the Default, as did Vista and windows 7. easy enough to change in Msconfig, if that is what you mean by "repair"

Of course it takes over as default ,word ''hijack'' was just a joke! And since I installed OS on the VHD, it was easier to correct BCD with EasyBCD ,wich is faster way and without hassle of restarting PC! That's what I thought of!

And for activation ,it says ''key is already in use'' for mine Windows 7 retail key!
Anyway, it doesn't matter, in September we should have beta! (maybe )

I found that Installing this build screwed up my dual boot. I have installed previous builds and dual boot worked like a charm but not with this...

I simply solved it by opening an elevated CMD-prompt and typing bcdedit /timeout 30 (this gives you a 30 second timeout before starting up so you can choose your OS), because both OS are still in the bootloader, only by installing Windows 8 it skips the timeout period where you can choose which OS you'd want to start. Simple trick, no need to download extra programs like Easybcd.

BTW, a little trick that always came in handy for me in Windows 7, also works in Windows 8 7989.
It's called GodMode and it allows you to access close to 270 settings in one place and in alphabetical order.
Just make a new folder anywhere, and name it: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
It will then auto change the icon and you're good to go! Have fun with it!

No need to restart until next time you need the boot manager (Is there?) If you changed it in Msconfig, which IMO I think would be faster, it's done!

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.
Latest Red Pill 1.4.0.1

Disabled RP 1.3.9.1, log off/log in, then restart (just to be safe), installed RP 1.4.0.1

Everything seems faster, explorer still lagging a bit although better than before.
New Task Manager still working and now Performance Dashboard is working.

Can select the old Aero but still only have the new Aero displaying.

IE9 working fine.

All in all, a nice improvement.

If it's real ,that is from some 80xx unlocked build! There no such start screen in 7989!
