Windows 8, beyond Windows 7

"I have been very involved in an effort around some early planning Win 8. It's been largely focused on establishing a customer tour where we basically go on-site to customers and really drill into their broad cross-Windows server
future needs. Not specifically looking at just the Win 8 time frame, but just post-Win 7 and beyond. We've done that with the hope of getting these engagements and voice of the customer throughout the product lifecycle and driving that early on into the planning process for Win 8"

As long as they do beta programs like they did with Windows 7, they can't go wrong.

I just hope they can start being consistent. I'm glad that Microsoft has started providing us with wonderful applications such as Bing, Windows 7 and Microsoft Security Essentials. Even IE8 was great as compared to previous versions. If they are consistent or even better than last time, I'm sure Microsoft will be respected and live up to it's name of the world's best software creator.

Agree...

Internet based cloud computing using an open-sourced browser... We'll have to wait and see, but trends are leading to that type of computing existence... seems kind of boring, no?

What I'm hearing is the next OS (not 7) will be the last "Windows" OS, everything will be internet based.

True. And, if that transition happens BEFORE Win 8 sees the light of day, this board should stand forever. How ironic that we're all here waiting for an OS that never comes. hehehehe

Overall, very happy with this laptop -- great for work & was very good for gaming when I originally bought it (haven't tried any games last year or so).
Yes, that would either be ironic or moronic. ;)

I vote for moronic but that would be the irony of it, so it would be ironic. But wait a minute thats just retarded so that would be moronic.

Say what.......I was doing fine with the ironic/moronic deal, but NO........you gotta add that retarded thing to the mix. I hope they skip 8, go right to 9 and put this whole deal to rest. That would be an iconic decision as far as I am concerned.
