Windows 8 Beta Release imminent?

A plethora of rumors have been circulating regarding the release of Windows 8, as well as its RTM, pre-release, and beta counterparts. Windows8Center wrote about the possibility that Windows 8 beta release would take place at Microsoft’s BUILD Conference in September.

This is for sure coming out on the 9th? Heck yesh.

I wasn't around during the WIN7 Beta release but how are we expecting this one to be released? Like how are we going to get our hands on it..?

It's been too long.......need to see something new.

I heard it s preview but not a real beta. Good and bad on that is they are still working on it. So that means it'll be a while before we can upgrade but possibly they can fine-tune things like the ugly ribbon and perhaps make a better use of the horrible metro screen that is basically a screen of squares.

Those who are hoping for a public beta release at BUILD will be hugely disappointed. Microsoft will provide a Windows Developer Preview for the attendees at BUILD. It will be feature locked, meaning even if it leaks most of the cool new features like the Start Screen won't be available. The public beta will be released in early 2012 -- probably in January.

So, we have to wait at least 4 more months before we get our hands on a fully functional Windows 8 build.
