Hello Win 8/8.1 Folk
I have a legit win8 pro(installed over 8) system a couple of years ago..
I would like to download and clean install 8.1 on this working machine as 10 is not suitable yet. I have tried every possible way to download a 8.1 iso though the 8 pro key is not accepted. If I go to the store it gives me the 8.1 option though I do not want it that way.
I want a clean install.
Help would be very much appreciated.:)

Thanks Brink for getting back so quick.
I have tried that unsuccessfully as the pull down fields remain empty.

Now, once I have the ISO burned to DVD, how can I or am I able to activate the fresh install?

If you download and install the version matching your OEM key, it will activate just fine. My laptop has a Windows 8.0 OEM key, if I install Windows 8.1 downloaded from the Media Creation tool I don't get prompted for a key and it activates automatically. I do believe its all explained in the tutorial.

Correct. Your Windows 8/8.1 product key is stored in the UEFI firmware chip of your motherboard, and will automatically be detected and activated with it if you use the same edition. :)

Update
The clean install went smoothly with the W8 Pro Key I had bought and installed over 8 a couple of years ago.
The previous setup was somewhat standard with a C: on SSD and Data on the HDD with the drive letter X: which I have used for various systems for the last 6-8 years.
After the install I noticed the (Data)Drive letter being D:. So I want to change to X: as a lot of links in the old documents refer to X:
If the X: is available in the Win 8 Disk Management I should be able to change even with the warning below?

Thanks.:thumb:
Does it mean I can't use any Win PE (disk management) after changing to X?

Obviously a mistake from years ago.
The other way would be, if possible, change all the references in relevant folder shortcuts . Not sure if that is possible?
Has anyone done that? [emoji4]

X is not the best drive letter to use..
I have left my data partition with X: and tested if it would create a problem with a partition manager(e.g. [email protected] disk). Seems not to create any problem yet. Everything else (e.g. shortucts) are working.

Hi Brink. The picture below Option 2 "Download Windows 8.1 Update ISO File with Retail Windows 8 Key" no longer matches what is on the US & UK web sites. They now only mention Windows 8.1 and not Windows 8. Looks like they only have the Windows 8.1 downloads available and not the Windows 8 downloads.
