Windows 8.1 update says the app wasn't installed.

My Windows Store gives me this message when i click on update to windows 8.1

It says ''Windows is getting your Windows 8.1 upgrade ready. You will automatically be prompted to install Windows 8.1 soon. You can continue to use your PC in the meantime''.

Its almost been a week since I'm getting this message. Plus i checked for the updates. I have all the latest updates. Don't know what seems the problem. I had installed windows 8.1 before. But as it was sluggish i uninstalled it and came back to windows 8.

My specs are :-

Dell Inspiron 3537,
Intel Core i5 ,
6 GB RAM,
64 Bit ,
AMD RADEON Graphics.

Are you current with all Windows Updates for 8.0?

Better yet, you can download a legal iso for 8.1 following Option One here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.html

Burn a DVD or create a installable flash drive then use it to upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 or better yet, backup your data then do a clean install of 8.1 directly. It will use the embedded 8.0 key for the install.

Have you gone to the Windows Store since seeing that message? The upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 is done through the Windows Store and is triggered/enabled by a specific Windows Update done through Windows Update. You have to do the update to get the upgrade. That's the official Microsoft route.
