Hello, I'm having an issue downgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 7. I bought an ASUS ROG G20AJ in and the computer came with windows 8.1 pre-installed, but I want to switch to windows 7 because some software I need is not compatible with windows 8/8.1. I already set up a USB flash drive with Windows 7 Pro and the download works fine until it boots up Windows 7, I'll post a picture of what I'm receiving,

I've tried updating my UEFI BIOS, disabling secure boot and enabling legacy.

I also read online that you have to run the UEFI version of the formatted flash drive, but when I select it my BIOS just opens up.

Thanks for reading, does anyone know what I can do?

Windows 8 machine can not ALL be simply downgraded to Windows 7. I checked the ASUS site from your link and they list no Windows 7 drivers for your machine. Installing Win7 is going to then force you to search for all the drivers needed -- on your own!

Are you installing Win7 x64?
One of the common issues is that users try to install X86 version with UEFI enabled in the bios. X86 does not support UEFI so you would have to configure the machine for Legacy boot to install X86 versions of Windows. If you do try to install X86 version setup will run but on the 1

Okay so I can download windows 7 but I'll need to find and install all drivers on my own?

If this is the case why is my BIOS not allowing me to switch operating systems?

Are you installing in UEFI/GPT mode or BIOS/MBR mode? If UEFI:

To install Windows 7 on a UEFI (not BIOS) system, do the following:

1) DISABLE Secure Boot.
2) Boot the Windows 7 x64 DVD in UEFI mode.

I am using UEFI, but whenever I boot from the USB flash drive in UEFI mode the UEFI BIOS will just restart and nothing happens.

...no one has done it as far as I know. BIOS isn't fully ACPI compliant, and you get 0x000000A5 error I believe it is. This is after enabling CSM, disabling secure boot, updating BIOS and disabling fast boot. Also, converting Windows 7 SP1 to UEFI and trying that was as well. Nothing has even gotten close to working.
Oh well then. Thanks for everything, I guess I won't be able to downgrade.
