Might be worth your while to check what programmes are in Startup.
Open "Task Manager".....click on "Startup".....then disable any that you don't need for starting the computer.

Good advice from dencal, startup programs are the most likely culprit. A better tool for this task than the task manager is Autoruns for Windows

Other things to check :

* Control Panel > Device Manager. Make sure there's no device with a yellow question mark, it indicates a problem with a missing or wrong driver, which can slow down booting. It's also a good idea to go to your PC's manufacturer's site and download/install all the latest drivers for your machine. Do the same for your graphics card.

* Check that the Fast Boot option is turned on : http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html

* Check if some non-Microsoft services are running (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > System Configuration > Services > Check Hide all MS services).

* Uninstall OEM applications, which are mainly bloatware and might slow down your PC. If an AV other than Windows Defender is installed, update it or think about using the built-in AV.

* Scan your PC for malware

45 seconds ain't bad man. I can normally think of something to do if I forgot to put my coffee on when I woke up.

What you could do is run the Windows Performance Investigator - I'll check it if you do and upload the etl.

Hi,

If I were you I would check hard disk condition (using GSmartControl :: Home & News or similar software). Sometime before they get broken they slow down. Fast approach would be to open Task Manager, check activity and average response time. If first is at 100% most of the time and second is in thousands of ms, then I would suspect hard disk failure.

A couple of things worth checking.....What anti-virus are you using?.....In Control Panel check System and Security to see if Windows Defender and another anti-virus are both working....If so turn one of them OFF.
Are you using Avast Free?.....If so uninstall....then reinstall from the Avast website and not through the Windows Store.

after 3 hours

Now , i have came across a strange thing. When i uncheck fast boot option in win 8 , and then i try to start windows , the boot time is still the same as when it is checked. I tried this option 6 times. And another thing , i saw on youtube , as people with this particular PC , Lenovo y50-70 do boot time under 14 sec.
After 3 hours of literally ****ing with this pc , i managed to cut down the boot time to circa 35 sec. Still , thats crazy amout of time. And still , the fast boot option has no effect what so ever on the pc. My pc that is 7 years old , and got win 8 , without ssd ofc , boots in 15 sec. I dont get this.... This laptop cost me 1000 dollars....... why me....

It's clearly annoying you Adam but perhaps you should relax a little and let someone help you out.

The most obvious would be to download and run windows Performance Investigator.

If you really don't want to do that then ranting isn't going to help. You may as well guess.

Huh... How many times per day do you boot your PC ? Not to criticize you or anything, but unless you are constantly rebooting, 35 seconds seems OK to me.
About Fast Startup not working, make sure Hibernation is activated. Fast Startup needs the hibernate file to be able to save your PC state at shutdown for a faster boot. Check this link : Hibernate - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums

hmm

I personally add reference to all these bad responses to your post adam227. I do say sorry. You don't need to do any external downloads to check whats causing it, you can do this all with the current software anyway. it seems like there just trying to get popular on there own products or spam links. I am so familiar with the LENOVO Y50-70. And I no how you feel. As for Banned User AdamF well he has some lack of thought, any sane person would be unhappy like I was when I bought a Lenovo and when I looked online to see people getting to the desktop within 10 seconds and me doing it in 1 minute. Most of the cause to it is in windows 8. And Lenovo are bad company because I tried windows 7 on the Lenovo y50-70 and even though they supplie the correct 64 bit drivers they don't install and I have to get through "windows update" the computer will boot in about 5 seconds with windows 7. but you will feel like your Lenovo is over heating because of the drivers not quit being right so in the end im back on slow boot windows 8, and there is no solution so far. windows 10 is worth a go.
So yeah your kind of stuck on what you can do with this laptop. As for user dencal, It seems like he is talking utter nonsense, If he had a Lenovo y50-70 he would see clearly there is something more wrong then just how many apps! are you for real dencal? "Also take into account an i7 processor only runs at 2.4 MHz on a laptop as opposed to 3.5 MHz on a desktop.
" Its a 8 thread processor dencal im pretty sure It can simply start up with no problems" Even my old vista laptops have more of a grind to them. And the fact also is that this Lenovo y50-70 is a i7 that runs at 2.5 Ghz not MHz to correct you. that also over clocks to 3.5ghz like a desktop only when it is needed. don't comment if you don't know, Thanks, if you want to no anymore about this laptop I can explain in more detail. post a comment.

I have a Lenovo laptop and mine boots in like 5 seconds or faster.. (samsung 840 EVO SSD)

16 gigs ram and i7 quad..

by the way, my processor runs at 3.2ghz not lower..

This thread was opened way over a year ago, so I'd hope that by now the OP's problem is solved.

But for those reading this thread for the first time, I'd like to mention a tweak that I've been using since the XP days, to speed up the boot time.
It does NOT involve changing any hardware, like the HD, or buying or downloading any software. All that's needed is already built into Windows, (every version from XP to 10)

Here's the tweak:

Shorten the Boot Time in XP, Vista & Windows 7 & 8, 8.1 & Windows 10

Go to the start button, choose run, then type msconfig and press Ok.
On the system configuration window, choose the "Boot.INI" tab.

Check “No Gui Boot”, then lower the timeout to a more manageable time.
I choose 3 seconds in stead of 30. (windows won’t accept a lower number than 3)

Next choose advanced options.
This is where you can choose how many processors you have.
Most modern PC's are duo core (2 processors) with some quad core (4 processors, and there are even some with 8 Cores or more, )
then choose OK. The Windows default is only 1 core.

Now choose apply and OK, reboot and you should see a marked decrease in boot time, and an Increase in Run-Time efficiency.

There are several tweaks, that increase performance in Windows 8.1, which I still run as my everyday OS, but also in Windows 10,
that also worked in Windows XP/SP3. For whatever reason, MS built their latest OS's on top of older OS cores, that just worked.
The registry in Windows 10 is nearly identical to the registry in XP, in so many ways. So tweaks I made to the XP registry, still work in Win-10.

With PC's today, containing so much more RAM, than PC's of just ten years ago, there is one tweak that really works great today.
In the early days of Windows, when many new computers were coming out of the factory, they were being sold with as little as 256 megs of ram. And, the Windows Kernel was left on the hard drive, where it had to be found and read, every time the OS needed to access it.
Especially, with the old and slow IDE drives, that really slowed down the speed of Windows.

But since then, with all the ram we're putting in PC's today, that same Kernel can be uploaded into RAM on bootup, so the speed and efficiency is greatly increased. I used that tweak in XP, when I could get 2GB of ram installed, and I've been using it in every OS since then, including Win-10.

Here's the Registry Tweak, to load the Windows Kernel into RAM on bootup:

Load the Kernel into RAM on boot, for faster running.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
"DisablePagingExecutive"="1"
"LargeSystemCache"="1"

It's not really hard, to increase the performance of any version of Windows, but it does take a little effort.

The things I've mentioned here, I do on every OS that I have to set up, and as a working Computer Tech, I do get to set up quite a few new PC's or at least OS installs.

My personal PC, that I built last June, boots up in just a few seconds and shuts down in 5 sec's or less.

Cheers Mates!
