Win8.1 recently started to run very slow - Acer vn7-591g

Hi folks,

I have a problem.

My system specs are i7-4710hq cpu, 8 gigs of RAM and a crucial MX100 512GB SSD - nitro vn7-591g

Yesterday I have noticed that with no reason colling fans are running at the higher levels than usual. Thought, OK, maybe update, maybe dirt, whatever, no big deal.

Today web surfing is irratating as hell, webpages load 2-3 times longer, when I click a folder it takes 3-4 seconds for it to open, Dying Light is 10 fps instead of 20-25 I had before. Editing post here is not "instant" like it was yesterday. Changing already loaded tabs in Chrome takes time. I tried to turn off all of the plugins, switch off chrome and use firefox - the same thing happens.

Malware bytes tool for root-kit detection displays no results.
Defender showhs no signs of anything bad.
I know what to click and when to click in order not to get infected, but somehow something is not right.
I have checked, I do not have any encryption files, so I hope it is not a Crypto Locker.

What I can do to help someone here to help me?
anyone willing to share some knowledge?

edit:
passmark rating 1180 vs 7800 for similiar CPUs... seems weird

Thank you for your reply.
I just have deleted 20gb of data ( had only 5GB free on C: partition) and it seems to improved the situation. I will update here how it works for a long run. Hope it will help others.

sad but that fast initial euforia was a placebo effect - actually freeing up C: partition helped just a little. system is slow as hell

i see no process I can kill, if that is what you mean
I did not find any rootkit, any virus ( AVG and avast scan), no Crypto Locker files present... can it be CPU throttling?

Do not kill a process. You need to figure out if a process is using too much of a resource, such as CPU, Disk, or Memory. Task manager and resource manager will show you what resource is overloaded and the process.

Common reasons for a slow system are defragmentation after a large update, too much bloat ware, not enough memory, virus checkers, many programs running.

My preference for fixing performance issues is to diagnose what is slowing a system down and then fix it. So, far with Windows 8.1, adware, anti-virus, third party disk defragmenter, windows defragmenter have slowed down my system. The adware was not detected by the antivirus software.

An SSD will degrade if it does not have at least 20% free space in it (how quickly depends on the drive). How long has it been in use? What does crystal disk info think of it? /62506/CrystalDiskInfo6_3_0.zip

It is not hardware related issue, windows reinstall helped. most probably it was caused by one of the windows updates.
