Windows 8.1 Desktop File On External Drive

Hi All,

Somehow my desktop file ended up on my external drive so if I unplug the drive I loose my desktop icons. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get it back and where to place it so it reads from the PC when I boot up. Everything I have done so far has caused me to loose my icons.

The Desktop folder should be under your user account, C:\Users\youraccount\Desktop.

Browse to the Desktop folder on the external drive.
Right click on it nd select Properties.
Click on the Location tab at the top then click on Move.
Select C:\Users\youraccount then click Select Folder.

That should do it.

Awesome. I'll let you know how it works. The trick will be finding the right user account. There seems to be two, jswalters and jeff.
