Windows 8.1 BSOD - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

Posts

Last week my laptop suddenly displayed a BSOD with the error KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE every time the 8.1 tried to load the startup applications (at the exact moment) after i log into my account. I tried uninstalling the RealTek Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth and Touchpad driver but to no avail. I tried running startup repair but to no avail. I interchanged my RAM Stick positions as well as tried another spare module but to no avail. Then when i gave up and decided to install Windows X Preview, 8.1 started to work after i finished installing X Preview when i launched it from the OS selection menu. There were no problems until today morning when it again started display the same BSOD error, only this time my laptop would crash when i left it idle, say less than 5 minutes. I have attached the SF Debug Files, zipped as per the sub-forum instructions.

Thank you,
Siddarth

Yes please. I have uninstalled another application called "Networx" that crashes my OS when running driver verifier. I did this some 3~4 days ago. My OS crashed again today! WindDbg x64 reports the same module "NETIO.sys" as the problem.

Thanks!

I took a quick look at your reports.
The problem is most likely due to a networking problem
But you also have many, many Windows Update errors.

So:
1) Ensure that you have ALL available WIndows Updates. If you have difficulty making Windows Update work, post over in the Windows Updates and Activation forums located here: http://www.eightforums.com/windows-updates-activation/
2) Then:
- download the latest, Win8.1 compatible networking drivers - this includes wired, wireless, and bluetooth drivers)
- uninstall the current drivers
- then install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

FWIW - Networkx is, IME, a very stable application. I use it at work to troubleshoot dropped wifi connections (and other networking issues). Since it crashes when using it, this means (IMO) that it's a definite networking problem.

I see a driver from some adware on your system - so I have to suspect an infection.
Please be sure to run the free anti-malware scans in this page: Free Online AntiMalware Resources

Just as a hunch, uninstall your Trend Micro - then immediately download and install a freshly downloaded copy.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
