I don't have it on my Windows 7 desktop. I tried all the tricks. Nothing worked.

Just found an announcement from Microsoft on my question about doing a clean install with Windows 10:

"Note

If you upgraded to Windows 10 on this PC by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 on this PC in the past, you won't have a Windows 10 product key, and you can skip the product key page by selecting the Skip button. Your PC will activate online automatically so long as the same edition of Windows 10 was successfully activated on this PC by using the free Windows 10 upgrade offer. "

Not one of my 2 pcs running windows 8,1 pro nor my 3 latps running same have asked for the windows upgrade to 10, one of them the icon disappeared, not even my surface pro 3 has asked for the upgrade yet

I wanted to say that I haven't got an alert yet either and my icon here disappeared as well. However, I was able to download the Windows 10 ISO with the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and it says that I'm able to upgrade right now. How is that possible?

I did that too, on all my PC's. I got tiered of waiting on the GWX App to actually do something. All my PC's seemed to be stuck on Validating or Almost Done. After hours and hours of waiting I just gave up and used the media creation tool. very painless doing it that way.

Yes ...You have 1 year to upgrade ..after that you have to pay ..
BTW ... In the recovery It says I only have 1 month option to go back to 8.1 ...
If I want to use cortana .. I have to sign-in my Hotmail .. DON'T LIKE THIS AT ALL ...
I upgraded it last night .. only took 30mins .. I had to tweak around for task bar ...
My WIFI is now kind of acting weird after upgrade ..???
Oh .. Edge brower is faster than IE .. good thing ... I will use it for awhile before dump Chrome ..;)

If you upgrade in the first year its free, and then free for the life of that device. You only pay after the one year period ends if you wait until then to upgrade.

Media creation tool is not the solution. I have tried many times in my Dell Venue 8 pro Tablet PC. It has given msg Failed to upgrade after 41%, 65% and then 91%. Still not able to upgrade. Microsoft should have told openly how they are planning to release update to the persons who have reserved. Unknown indefinite wait either in a few days or weeks has no meaning. It is grand flaw on part of MS.

I do not deny it has worked, but for many or a few is very difficult to say. Why it has not worked for me? Is there any way to know?
